Subject: Docket No. FAA-2012-1041; Directorate Identifier 2011-NM-272-AD References: A: Boeing SB 747-34-2925, June 04, 2008 B: Boeing 747-SRP-34-0114 C: Boeing 747 FTD 34-07001 Mr. Mei, United Airlines has received the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, Docket No. FAA-2012-1041; Directorate Identifier 2011-NM-272-AD, advising operators of a proposed rulemaking by the FAA to mandate the inspection of left and right Angle of Attack (AOA) sensors, as applicable, to determine if a certain AOA sensor with a paddle type vane is installed, perform operational test if applicable, and replacing AOA sensor if test does not give specified values. The proposed inspections must be done within 36 months after the effective date of this AD. United Airlines has reviewed the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and concurs with the proposed inspection and follow-on corrective action to maintain a high level of safety for the Boeing 747 fleet. United Airlines has reviewed its maintenance parts records history and determined it does have the affected AOA P/N 2566A40S.
