As a private citizen, unaffiliated with any company or government organization, I would like to voice my wholehearted approval of FAA regulations to increase and improve routine inspections of Boeing 737 airplanes for cracks, weakness of the fuselage skin. From what I have read, this line of airplanes would benefit from a re-design of the fuselage to make it less prone to fail under the stresses of repeated pressurization cycles. It appears that these airplanes are being used frequently and repeatedly in a manner that the original design did not anticipate. Boeing may be under competitive pressures that make a re-design far less attractive for their company than simply "updating" the current design. For these reasons, I applaud the FAA for using their watchdog powers to keep these airplanes safe and perhaps tip the scales to make a redesign a more attractive option for Boeing. Please continue to stand firm and be vigilant. The public is counting on it.
