AD 2012-1318 Directorate Identifier 2012-NM-104-AD, Functional Check Para (h) requires a 2000 Repeat inspection interval for Short Flexible drive cables installed by SB B767-78A0100, Dated Oct 2010, SB B747-78A2185, Dated Oct 2010 and CF6-80C2B SB 78-1168, Rev 01 Dated Aug 2010. Pre SB Flexible cables have a repeat inspection required by AD 2000-09-04 Amendment 39-11712 Dated May 2000, AD 2000-15-04 Amendment 39-11833 Dated Sept 2000 and AD 2003-16-16 Amendment 39-13269 Dated Oct 2003 at 1000 hours, and extended to 3000 hours by FAA letters Ref 140S-03-160 Dated June 2003, Ref 140S-03-313 Dated Dec 2003, Ref 140S-04-55 Dated March 2004 and Ref 140S-05-180 Dated Sept 2005. Can the Post SB Flexible Drive cable repeat inspections mandated by AD 2012-1318 be at the same 3000 Flight Hours or greater interval. AD 2012-1318 Directorate Identifier 2012-NM-104-AD, Terminating Actions Para (j)(1) terminates the Repeat inspection of AD 2003-16-16 Amendment 39-13269 Para (e) TRAS Brake. Can the terminating action of Para (j)(1) also include the repeat inspection of AD 2003-16-16 Amendment 39-13269 Para (a) for the CDU Brake. AD 2012-1318 Directorate Identifier 2012-NM-104-AD, Terminating Actions Para (j)(3) terminates the Repeat inspection of AD 2000-09-04 Amendment 39-11712 step (f) TRAS Brake. Can the terminating action of Para (j)(3) also include the repeat inspections of AD 2000-09-04 Amendment 39-11712 step (e) for the CDU Brake. Air New Zealand request that AD 2012-1318 Directorate Identifier 2012-NM-104-AD supersedes the AD’s 2000-09-09-04, 2000-15-04 and 2003-16-16. By combining the residual parts of three AD’s into one new AD, this will reduce the complexity of compliance requirements, leaving one AD, rather than four.
