Dear Sir or Madam,
This comment is in response to Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) Docket No. FAA-2013-0143. This NPRM proposes an AD to verify the correct material (N75 versus the correct C263 metal) was used to fabricate the front combustion liner metering panel. UPS has currently completed this inspection on 67 of 89 engines (75%) with no findings. The remaining engines are locked in specific geographic areas such as Asia and South America that do not provide favorable opportunities to accomplish the material verification. Per UPS’s inspection results, UPS believes the risk of finding a combustion liner metering panel fabricated of N75 material is low.
UPS respectfully requests an amendment to the proposed rule that would remove the flight cycle requirement and require compliance at the next shop visit.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of UPS’s requested action. If additional data is needed or questions arise, please contact David Albert at (502) 329-6039 or email at dalbert@ups.com.
