Having an insurance product being sold and serviced through the FSA is not only wrong, but illegal. Only licensed insurance producers can sell insurance products in the State of Illinois. I know there are not any licensed insurance producers working for the FSA office in my county. Not only that but by allowing FSA workers to sell and service an insurance product would cause a new form of liability to the FSA office. This would mean the FSA office would have to purchase an Errors and Ommissions policy to cover the liability risk. Another reason this would be a bad idea is that it would be confusing to the ag producer. The farmer wouldn't know where to go to get his coverage. Let the FSA do what it does best, and let the insurance professionals do what they do best, sell and service insurance policies.
