I'm sure much thought has gone in to the menu labeling rules however with most government regulations there will be a multitude of problems. When a restaurant wants to change a menu item or add a new menu item the expense of doing such a thing will become burdensome and the creativity will become less. Innovation is what makes a business continue to thrive. More regulations will only kill American Innovation which will kill jobs and businesses. The Foodservice Industry has already adjusted to consumer demand with out the govenrment being involved. Just because a restaurant is a chain restaurant doesn't mean that Mom and Pop don't own that business. Consumers will be priced out of the markets, Owner Operators will be forced to track more papaer work and pay more rediculous expenses and therefor will be less profitable. I suppose that is how Socialism works, the government somehow knows more than the persons that work in the industry every day whether or not taking questions and seeking opinions.
