I am an individual consumer, but I would like my comment posted on regulations.gov. I would just request that FDA keep the "Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004" in mind when considering labeling requirements for modified food. In some cases, it may be legally necessary to label such food unless an exemption is granted ("Exemptions from Food Allergen Labeling Petition & Notification Process" http://www.fda.gov/Food/LabelingNutrition/FoodAllergensLabeling/ExemptionsfromFoodAllergenLabelingPetitionNotificationProcess/default.htm ). Also, in the interest of protecting the public health, please keep in mind that almost any food can be an allergen, not just those covered under the FALCPA.
