Over regulating the food manufacturers and charging them for inspections will certainly shut down many small businesses. This in turn will have a chain effect in the food industry. Many small manufacturers like myself, will be extremely burdened by additional taxes (fees). It take us several days to make several hundred dollars, which would be the cost on inspections. I suggest focusing on the specific problems, e.g. imported foods from suspect sources, etc. rather than penalizing all food manufacturers. Also, set a size limit for small companies to be exempt may be another solution. The burden of lawyers getting involved in FDA regulations already makes it nearly impossible for any mom & pop operation to comprehend. The entrepreneurial spirit which made this country great is fading fast.
