Attached file will give a brief idea about WSO initiative on Sustainability and Food Safety for Spice Industry. Primary area of our focus is to create Food Safety awareness and education at farm level along with upgrading the process technology. We work along with Spices Board of India connecting all stake holders – Farmers, Scientists, Exporters & Government - to make this work effectively.
One of the major concerns that we face is the lack of harmonization of standards across all countries and if legislators are open to bring a common standards like Codex standards of Food Safety, it will bring more clarity is my thought. I would like our organization to work close with FDA and extent whatever assistance we could provide for supporting your FSMA initiative from the origin country.
