This loan forgiveness is vital to the recovery of this area. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is still trying to get
back on its feet from this unprecedented natural disaster. Not only should local governments be able to
receive forgiveness of disaster loans but individual homeowners should be able to apply for all or partial
forgiveness of Katrina loans through SBA. With all the Economic Stimulus funds and bailouts, please
consider bailing out US citizens who have suffered through the worst of times with Hurricane Katrina
and an economic recession. Hurricane Camille loans were forgiven after the 1969 storm and Camille
was a baby compared to Katrina. The US helps countries around the world and they need to help their
own citizens right now. The government gave mortgage bailouts to those who couldn't pay their
payments and loan forgiveness for disaster loans is even more necessary than those bailouts. I didn't
even have a first mortgage on my home before Katrina and now I have a 30 year SBA disaster loan.
