FHWA- 2007-28977 NPA 2009 MUTCD Major changes in proposed new MUTCD. My best count of Target Compliance dates is 217 in the proposed MUTCD (excluled those that dates have already past). In 2000 there were 16 target dates and in 2003 there were 78. Now we have 217. In section 7B.12 School Bus Stop Ahead Signs (S3-1) required sight distance is now referred to Table 2C-4 (use to be 500 Feet regardless of speed limit). Using table 2C-4 for 50 MPH roadway, if 251 feet of sight distance is available, no advance warning would be needed. Using this table just seems wrong. Deadline for comments is July 31, 2008.
