National Tunnel Inspection Standards

I spent most of the nearly 40 years of my career working for the Port Authority of NY and NJ. While there, I spent a large part of my time inspecting the vehicular and rail tunnels operated by the Authority. In the early 1980's it embarked on a condition survey program which included all its facilities. I participated in the writing of the several of the Authority's inspection manuals including one for Tunnel Inspections. I think it would be a good starting point for what you wish to achieve. Your staff can contact Mr. Frank Lombardi,PE the Chief Engineer who would probably be most happy to give you a copy. I would also advise contacting the MTA in New York City and any other agencies which operates these types of facilities. Good Luck, Ivan Ramirez, PE
