i drive over the road and if you can only have 1 restart every 7 days that will keep alot of drivers from getting home . it will not affect my home time but if i have a break down on the road and stuck for to days to get rolling again when i get home i would have to take to much time off to be able to get back on track. which would be a lost week of pay and for me and some other people that could be the factor that puts us in forcloser on our home . i think some things are best left alone before you make a rule i think you rule makers should get in a truck with a driver and see how it is . you all make it home to your family all the time we have to work at it . its a job we chose yes but more and more rules are making it harder and harder to be with family. my truck is always open for anyone that cares to see life on the road . then you will see the ones that need to be held for letting us get good sleep and be more productive is the shipper and receivers ,they hold us up for hours with no concerns about when we have to get to are next stop ;so look at them more and not so much the driver .thanks hope this helps.
