To the Doctors and Members of Congress who obviously have no idea about being diabetic: Diabetics are not second class citizens. This regulation is written with the express intent to prohibit diabetics form obtaining a CDL. The rigorous guidelines involved are not necessary for diabetics to be safe on the road. Diabetics know our limitations, we know when we are having low blood sugars and have more than enough time to pull over and treat it. The likelihood of a diabetic caused accident is far lower than someone on a cell phone, or drunk or even with a hidden or known heart or other unknown medical condition. To single out diabetics is wrong and discriminatory as I have not seen any studies that conclude we are more at-risk drivers. I have been an insulin dependent diabetic since 1975 and have never had an accident related to my diabetes. Thank you, Kenneth Youngblood 21 Foxwood Dr. Newport, WA 99156
