I am an "EX" truck driver. I say "EX" because I left driving because I was tired of the "hurry up and wait syndrome". I hurried to deliver my load on time, only to have to wait for hours to be unloaded. Then when I did get to unload, I would have to wait again for the loaders to take a break or take their lunch after they started to unload me. When I would try to get detention, I would have to wait again for someone to authorize the detention. Nine times out of ten, I would not get the authorization. This really comes out the worst when you have more than one stop to deliver on your truck. You try to get to the next stop only to be late and have to wait extra time because you were late. Something needs to be done to help the drivers who are running theri rears off to deliver on time or get fired.
