I think this is a good idea. I think increasing the interval for required safety inspections from every 90 days to 60 days by certified mechanics. Also I feel backyard mechanics working on a federal vehicle must stop. Only certified diesel mechanics can work on them period and all work must be guaranteed for at least 180 days and repaired for free within that time frame or @ half off within the first year after repair. Also, along that note, only high quality products can be used as replacement parts as in the new part, no more cheap versions allowed on CMV. A report with matching duplicate always kept of each repair reported by drivers for every vehicle for the duration truck is with company with a copy of the certified mechanics certification certificate attached and if sold/ traded, these reports must accompany bill of sale to new owner. Making mechanic accountable for their work will stop rush or half done jobs, and will shed light light on if in fact it's drivers error or mechanical failure in an accident. Requiring all certified mechanic to stay current and registered with the certifying state. Popcorn inspections to big and small outfits to ensure only certified mechanic are repairing trucks.
