The WIC program and the people who support it - from the state Department of Health to the local DOH offices - continue to give professional, creative and concrete support for breastfeeding. It has made a real difference in our local breastfeeding statistics. I wish we had the money statewide to have peer counsellors available in every single office to improve our breastfeeding duration - saving us healthcare dollars in the long run!
