As a young person working in San Francisco I have made many trips to Los Angeles using other modes of transportation (car, airplane). I am from Washington, DC, where there are many options of travel when going north to Philadelphia, New York, and Boston or other business locations. I think the people of California need additional options for travel up and down the West coast for a couple of reasons. The more options there are available, the lower the prices will be. There will also be a lower amount of traffic on the roads, especially late at night and over the weekends, when I assume there are more accidents caused by people who drive when they should not (due to tiredness or drinking alcohol). A high speed transportation option would be very valuable to the State of California. It would allow people who live in SF or LA to live in one place and work closely with people who live in the other location. This will help provide more options for employment, especially in the high tech Silicon Valley and the entertainment capital Los Angeles.
