Systems for Telephonic Notification of Unsafe Conditions at Highway-Rail and Pathway Grade Crossings

Emergency Notification Signs (ENS) with 1-800 number, street/road/highway name, and DOT number should be placed at all public at-grade crossings regardless of railroad Class. In Arkansas, 42% of 2,605 such crossings are operated by Class III railroads. ENS should be in compliance with the current edition of the MUTCD.
