This proposed rule is a must because of the current lack of safeguards aboard passenger trains and the continuing threats of terrorism. The signage aboard passenger trains, especially Amtrak trains, is currently lacking for emergency situations as I am not sure how I would exit the train if I had to in the event of an emergency. Furthermore, more emergency lighting is critical on board the trains because the possibilities of an emergency in the darkness of night are prevalent and the lighting in the train is inadequate for any type of emergency. Finally, it is not clear that the current lighting would function with a power failure aboard a passenger train or in the case of an emergency. Therefore, this proposed rule is critical to the safety of passengers aboard trains.
