This rule should not be adopted.
Allowing for a voluntary self-certification will be ineffective. The National Organic Program has rules in place that are effective and adequately enforced. Consumers who wish to purchased meat produced this way, and producers who wish to receive a premium price for their production practices, should use the current "USDA Organic" label to fulfill these preferences.
The term "natural" is confusing and near meaningless. This rule would only further that trend, but would give the claims legitimacy that is undeserved.
