We are a small ground beef processor, currently we sell 1 pound "chubs" to retail
stores. These "chubs" are approximatly 4 1/2 inches long. They are running at 75-
80 chubs per minute. Currently we print Sell By information on these chubs along
the seam where it is the most easily seen by the consumer.
As the regulation is currently written we are not allowed to use country
abreviations. Our package will be something like this.
Product of: United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand Sell By 00/00/000
With abreviations we can print as follows.
Product of: U.S. Can, Aus, N.Z. Sell By 00/00/0000
The first option will require us to reduce the size of the print to a lot smaller size,
then we will have to worry about it being ledgable to those of us who can't see as
well as others. The second option will fit on the chub fairly easy and will allow us
to print it in a larger font.
Please consider allowing the use of established country abreviations. The cost to
change all of our chub film will be more than our small firm can handle.
