I use to train and road test for Swift Transportation. There needs to be more training on the safety of driving a big truck from driving to backing to road rage. These big compaines play a number game. Get them new drivers in and out asap so they can make money. They do not take into account that not all drivers can be trained in 240 hours. Some drivers are not fit to be on the road mentally. I was pushed to pass people on road test that should not be driving, I refused that's why I am no longer there. I took my job very serious. More qualifed trainers, how can you teach someone something you have never done. You should have a miminum of OTR for 1 year before you can train someone else. Also dispatchers need to speed a week on the road to see what a driver goes through, you cannot sit behind a desk and advise someone how to driver and deliver a load when you have never been on the road. You want to make the rules then you must be a player in the game. You must know what you are talking about to set rules for others to follow, alot of people in trucking think that all we do is drive....they are ohhh so wrong!!!
