I believe that there should be an increase in the bag limit of teal in the early September season from 4 to 6 teal. This is a modest increase not likely to have an impact on teal populations which are at all time high numbers and most of the teal we see migrating through Texas in September have a small 2-3 week window of hunting pressure/mortality before they reach their wintering grounds in Mexico. Many teal have been found nesting in wetland habitat in the lower half of the united states and Texas coastal habitat reflects a small spring nesting resident population that aren't counted in the USFWS annual breeding grounds count. This means there are even more teal that aren't counted every year and that the bag limits could easily be raised from 4-6 with no substantial impact on the population of teal in the US. I am a big proponent of this legislation to increase the bag limit.
