I am the Botanist in the Supervisor's Office of Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. My Forest may or may not provide formal comments from the Forest Supervisor. Here are my comments as a knowledgeable Forest Service natural resource professional:
1. We have no Limnanthes flocossa ssp grandiflora populations or potential habitat on Forest Service lands.
2. We have no known Lomatium cookii populations on Forest Service lands. Rogue River-Siskiyou NF, Wild Rivers Ranger District does have a small amount of potential habitat for this species. A tiny fraction of this FS potential habitat is included in one CHU, just east of Seats Dam on Rough and Ready Creek. These few acres are in the Rough and Ready Botanical Area, so any management actions or restrictions on behalf of Lomatium cookii here would be consistent with the Forest Plan land allocation already in place for the site.
3. The Forest will continue to include searches for Lomatium cookii as part of rare plant inventories when activities are proposed on FS land in potential habitat for this species. If it is ever found on FS land, the local office of USFWS will be informed promptly. WR
