Re: Docket FWS-RS-ES-2013-0028
Dear Sir,
I strongly urge the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to exclude all lands owned by Queen Lili`uokalani Trust (QLT) proposed for critical habitat designation.
The critical habitat designation proposes taking more than half of ancestral lands the Queen inherited from her mother that are left to generate revenues for children in need. Such action will deprive QLT, and the children, of millions of dollars in potential future revenue. Lands sanctified to serve orphan and poor Hawaiian children should not be designated as a critical habitat for plants.
Far more good can be done through a cooperative partnership between the Trust and the Service to contribute to the recovery of these species while ensuring that the mission and work of the Queen Lili`uokalani Trust will endure in perpetuity.
I urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to exclude lands owned by the Queen Lili`uokalani Trust from critical habitat designation.
Sincerely,
Sean Ho
a concerned Native Hawaiian and past recipient of QLT services
