Designation of protected habitat and endangered status for the Spikedace and Loach Minnow is vital to the future existence of these species. The habitat in which they exist are extremely limited and are threatened ecosystems that are in dire need of protection from a number of factors. The riparian habitats they require for suitable sustinance is very unique and extremely sensitive to human impact. Some examples of these impacts include reduction in ground water levels, introduction of non-native species and damage from large scale erosion. Without intervention to limit the destruction and impact upon these critical habitats there will be many difficulties in protecting the well-being of these species. Thank you for your consideration of these comments in support of endangered status and designation of critical habitat.
