Bexar Audubon Society, representing some 1,600 residents of Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Bandera, Wilson, Atascosa and Medina counties, strongly supports the designation of Critical Habitat for the nine Bexar County Invertebrates. Without this protection extinction is nearly certain for most if not all of these species. Human health will also be protected by the Critical Habitat designation by insuring that these Edwards Aquifer recharge zones are kept free of impervious cover and development thus preventing contamination of San Antonio's drinking water.
