I am the San Augustine County Judge, and I have just recently become aware of the Texas Golden Gladecress proposal for Critical Habitat Designation. Further, I believe the citizens and the industries of our county that could be most affected by this proposal have been given very limited (if any) information and almost no explanations regarding the possible economic impact of such an action. Although the date for requesting a public hearing has passed (October 26, 2012), I think it is imperative that the citizens of our county be given the opportunity to ask questions - and to get answers - so they might fully understand the economic impact, both explicit and / or implied of this proposal. Therefore I am requesting a public hearing be held in, or near our county as soon as possible. Please note, I have contacted the Texas Governor’s office, our state and federally elected officials, the Texas Oil and Gas Association, and have spoken to representatives from the Texas Comptroller’s Office and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Should a public hearing not be possible, I will take this issue to the public through the press and am request assistance in preparing informational media releases. Thank you, Samye Johnson
