I find this proposal to be a good measure for the Zuni Bluehead Sucker of East to Central Arizona and New Mexico because in the past 20 years poor watershed management of the region has led to a near extinction experience for the species. Since this fish is found only in North America it should be our duty to protect the habitat for future generations to come. These omnivorous fish are very useful in the small streams of the Southwest because they continue the circle of life, and without them the fragile ecosystems could be in peril. Therefore, drying up at a faster rate than expected. This fish is already protected by the States within the region that the fish live, but they need the full protection of the Federal government standards. These species of fish have developed from two ancient species, and the thought of history alone should compel us to save the species. These fish are essentially to stream management issues throughout the Southwest and are in fact natural water cleansers by eating algae and other plants that can potentially take over an ecosystem such as the already fragile streams throughout the desert ridden Southwest. This fish should be protected, and eventually expanded so that it can once again thrive in its natural habitats.
