Conservation of tiny organisms like the Tumbling Creek cavesnail are often considered to be of negligible importance by the general public. I have great appreciation for this species as a beautiful and unique species in its own right, and feel that designation of critical habitat is essential However, my bigger concern is that the dramatic decline of this species indicates the poor health of this ecosytem as a whole. Restoring the ecosystem to a state that can support the snail will also ensure that it will also be healthy for other species, including humans.
