The time for delisting the wolf has come. While they have a place on the landscape, their numbers must be managed to a level socially and practically acceptable- especially to the people that live in their home range. Man's presence in their habitat means that the predator/prey relationship has been altered. The result is that the natural population control mechanism, low prey populations, is circumvented by wildlife game management and animal husbandry. To continue to keep them listed, and allow populations to continue to grow and expand into less wild areas is irresponsible. It will eventually cause them to be villiannized to the point where their very existance will someday be in jeopardy, as society's attitude toward them changes. The only way to prevent this teter-toter effect in public opion is to manage the population at a lower , yet sustainable level, in habitats least frequented by humans.
