Dear FWS,
I am a Minnesota resident and a hunter who supports removing the Minnesota gray wolf from the Endangered Species list. I have personally observed wolves in the wild in the northern Minnesota area near the Canadian border, and I assume the population must be fairly robust to have enough wolves to observe two bands of them on or near a busy highway in the space of about 25 miles.
I support the idea of listing wolves as a game species with bag limits, tag requirements, and seasons, monitored by state and federal agencies, to assure that stable populations of wolves are maintained. But, under the present situation, hunters are denied opportunities to collect a wolf. It would be the best and most rational solution, I believe, to have state control of wolf hunting under federal review.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Geoffrey K. Cooper
