I do not believe the acreage for the Piping plover habitat should be increased. The
habitat that the plover frequents is constantly being overwashed. They have been
given plenty of room by the consent decree to increase their habitat,To give them
more land I feel would be detremental to the many businesses on Hatteras and
Ocracoke island. I was down on Ocracoke Island on May 4th thru the 10th and
the number of fisherman and tourists were decreased from past years because of
the beach closures. I feel that the current protection given the piping plover in the
winter is more than adequate. thank you.
