The Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles (SSAR) strongly supports
the proposed listing of the reticulated flatwoods salamander (Ambystoma bishopi)
as endangered, as well as the proposed critical habitat designation for both
Ambystoma bishopi and for the threatened frosted flatwoods salamander
(Ambystoma cingulatum). The attached letter describes our position in detail.
SSAR is an international herpetological society with 1800 individual and 375
institutional members dedicated to advancing research, conservation, and
education concerning amphibians and reptiles.
