I work as a forester on the Mount Magazine Ranger District, USDA Forest Service, and have found several blighted Ozark chinquapins. In 2008, one of our "stay in school" employees found what still appears to be a non-blighted tree. it measures about 7 inches DBH and is approx. 35 feet tall. It is in the understory of a mature shortleaf pine stand on the north slopes of Mount Magazine, near a creek. I would be glad to show it to you for your accessment and status review.
