Taking into account the numerous proposed or ongoing projects around the island that are not compliant with the necessary regulations or parameters required to protect the land, the habitats and the species that live in the area where these projects are located, any attempt to protect a threatened, endemic species should be supported.
I urge the USFWS to do all within its power to enlist the Coqui Llanero as endangered species and to protect and designate the necessary amount of critical habitat for it. The Coqui Llanero is not only part of Puerto Rico's cultural heritage, but it is also a very important part of its ecological and economical heritage. By designating and protecting critical habitats for this species, we indirectly assure essential habitat for other species that might or might not be threatened, but who also need those conditions for their survival and reproduction.
Please protect the Coqui Llanero and its habitat. Let us not permit more unplanned, in-congruent projects to threaten its survival. Let us protect the island of Puerto Rico's incredibly diverse ecosystems and the species that live in them.
