Dear Sir/Ma'am:
I am writing to express my support for the protection of the Puerto Rican harlequin butterfly (Atlantea tulita), as well as for the protection of his habitat. The area where it exclusively lives is presently being threatened by the construction of human habitations and tourist complexes. I have been in the area to search for and photograph the species, and have been successful. However, I and others have failed to find the species in other areas in Puerto Rico save for a couple of sightings away from the larval food plant. That seems to point to the fact that, for whatever reason, the Quebradillas coastal karstic hills seem to be the only place where a viable population can be sustained. Please see below the URL to my website, where I show photographs of the species. I am also attaching some of them.

Thank you for your kind attention.
