I have moved to the Georgia Coast about one year ago. Until then, I had never seen a wood stork. The wood stork is now seen a lot here, but I understand that they were almost rendered extinct by over-zealous development in Florida. They have bred well in our Georgia coastal environment. Fortunately, most of our coast is protected by Federal or State restrictions of no development on the barrier islands and many parts of the coast. I want to see the wood stork stay on the Endangered List -- not down graded to "Threatened". I believe this will open a door for further development of their necessary nesting habitat and they MUST be protected.
