As a resident of the area and user of Kings Bay in Crystal River I support the proposed regulations. I am one of those many residents who do not use the Bay on weekends because of all the rowdy visitors who are driving their boats around at top speed. If enforced, these regulations will go a long way toward restoring peace and quiet to our community.
In addition they will protect the manatees from collisions. As a former member of Manatee Watch I have rarely seen any manatee who has not been injured by a boat, almost all carry scars from the propellor. If users of the Bay would only slow down injuries to manatees would be reduced. I sure hope you can enforce these regulations.
Kings Bay and the Crystal River have gone from being one the top diving areas of the nation to unlisted. The term Crystal River is a misnomer. The water is no longer crystal clear and the bottom is a sluge. I applaud your efforts to restore Kings Bay and the Crystal River.
