I writing per request from the Illinois Chapter of the American Fisheries Society to provide data on American eel collections from the Illinois Natural History Survey's Illinois River Biological Station. The IRBS has conducted a long term electrofishing program which uses AC electrofishing to collect fish at 27 fixed sites on the Illinois River and 1 fixed site on the Mississippi River since 1957 (LTEF). Since 1957 we have collected one American eel at the Lower Peoria Lake fixed site (RM163.4) on 8/26/11 at 14:10 that measured 505 mm and weighed 284 g.
