Replacing the reference to (Fleming and Candau 1998, p.246) on p. 48939 with a more recent analysis by the same authors (Candau and Fleming 2011, see attached PDF) would strengthen the argument. In this later analysis, the authors used a bioclimatic model of spruce budworm defoliation and climate change predictions to forecast an extension and intensification of spruce budworm defoliation in the northern part of its distribution while the intensity decreases in the centre and the south of the distribution.
