Please protect the black tailed prairie dog from predation by humans. The prairie dog serves a distinct purpose in aerating the arid soil of many western states within the continental United States. Nothing is sadder than seeing a prairie dog town destroyed to make way for a highway or a building development. After years of watching their antics, learning that they have their own language and knowing they have a universal, communal warning sound for the approach of humans. I felt great sadness as I watched them disappear under the treads of heavy equipment. They are also creatures of God..
