Dear Director Ashe,
I am writing to express my concern over the proposed delisting and future management of gray wolves in Wyoming. The proposed rule jeopardizes wolves on national park lands, specifically the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway--an important 24,000-acre wildlife movement corridor between Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.
This government action flies in the face of the Organic Act, passed by Congress to protect national park lands and wildlife, and sets up a power struggle between the state and federal government over the management of wolves. These problems must be corrected now; not after wolves are shot. There are roughly 240 wolves outside of Yellowstone. All are targeted for hunting in this plan--leaving the parks as their only refuge. The rule must be amended to clearly state that wolves are under the management of the National Park Service and that hunting will be prohibited.
As a staunch supporter of America’s National Park System, I expect you to intervene on my behalf and protect wolves in the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway and Grand Teton National Park.
Thank you for considering my comments."
