Having grown up in Michigan, I view the wolverine as an iconic animal of at least Michigan and really of the United States overall. While not a particularly friendly creature, they certainly deserve to survive and prosper. The current number of them (estimated around 300) does not bode well for their future. Placing them on the threatened list is a good first step to ensure their survival.
