I am the president of the Grand Valley Audubon Society located in Grand Junction, Colorado. Many of our almost 400 members have volunteered on behalf of Gunnison Sage Grouse. We have participated in field trips to see the grouse. We have commented persistenly on the continuous habitat degradation that has been occurring locally because of energy development. Listing this species as endangered is critical to its long-term survival.
