After seeing the plight of the polar bears due to the melting ice in the artic, I was struck by how long it has taken us to recognize the need for government action, not just for the polar bear but for other species now almost or already extinct. I hope that is changing with this administration and that the interests of mankind will trump those of the oil and gas industries. I am an elementary school teacher and it saddens me each year to show my students the list of animals that no longer exist, whether due to poachers or the environment or civil unrest in the animals' home country. Please support this effort to save the polar bear. Thank you.
