It is pertinent that Native Alaskans be able to live in a sustainable manner. The approval of this rule is necessary to promote the welfare of those people who engage in subsistence harvest in Alaska. THe creation of permanent migratory bird harvest seasons is beneficial to the people in that the process for opening the season is automatic based on seasonal dates, rather than having to wait in anticipation for a lengthy process to be fulfilled. Having the migratory bird harvest season be subject to public review and annual approval by the Secretary of the Interior is unnecessary and time consuming. My only concern with the issuance of this new rule, is how many more migratory birds would be harvested due to an open season based on dates?
