I have lived in Wyoming for 22 years. The flocks of sage grouse my sons and I
encountered at that time are nowhere to be found today. We no longer hunt sage
grouse. I would like to see this bird protected throughout it's traditional range. I
believe the sprawl of housing has destroyed prime habitat. Energy development
has altered prime habitat and made conditions ripe for West Nile virus carrying
mosquitos. I believe both housing and energy development can take place in a
manner consistent with sage grouse recovery. Placing the sage grouse on a list
of threatened species will focus attention on methods consistent with multiple use.
