I am opposed to listing land lying in the Gooselake area of Kern County as designated habitat for the Buena Vista Lake Shrew. Much of this land has high potential for agriculture or oil and gas production and a listing will significantly increase the costs of any development, if not prohibit it entirely. We have seen staggering artificial and meaningless costs in any kind of business activitiy in Kern County due to previous listings of phony endangered species and don't need any more such listings. When you use the word "likely" in defining habitat, that doesn't sound like scientific evidence. You go to the greatest extremes to try to try to show that an animal in one area is not the same species as another such animal a few miles away, to the point that it is ridiculous. I wish that you would quit bending over for the organizations that use the environment as a fund raising tool.
